dont know about this on tbh.

it looks all a bit too “fuzzy” particularly the background and to the left.

i would look at reprocessing this – possibly without the HDR

i don’t see the point of HDR in this case, it just makes it look flat…. there is no extreme bright or shadow that needs to be overcome if anything its lacking in contrast….

Thank u so much for all the critique folks- really kind of you to come back.
All critique is constructive- as long as its not needlessly nasty critique
Very interesting obs. on the HDR effect.

aoluain- ur abs. right- the image is fuzzy- and i think this is due to the phenomenon of ‘ghosting’ that HDR suffers from when u are photographing a scene that is moving- but I actually like this- it gives the scene a ‘dynamic flux’..and otherworldy effect..(little bit like long exposure effects you get when photographing flowers swaying in the breeze.

Isabella- yes – contrast does seem to be a thing I havent quite figured out yet!!– but again- I kinda like the otherworldy effect- for me it makes the image more dream-like

The image was generated with Photmatix Pro- from a set of 5 bracketed shots.
I’ll pick one of these and based on your critique- will put up this here so you can compare- if u like.

Again, thank you all so much for ur kind replys.:-)

    Here’s a single exposure- just tweaked a wee bit…for comparison….
The image is still soft- maybe its something to do with a foggy polariser…???
ISO 100 f16 13mm using Sigma 10-20mm -polariser- and tripod..

i much prefer the second, it has that extra bit of brightness and warmth and that bit more shadow that really adds a lot of depth to the scene.. the other one looks very flat, grey and dull by comparison. i know what you mean about the dreaminess, but i think to would be more effective in a composition that has stronger lines leading into the image but at the end of the day its just my opinion!

however in the HDR version if you tried to pull up the highlights a bit it may improve it as the grey water may be part of the problem…

slight softness could also be related to the tripod depending on its weight, how high up it was, the weight of the camera, how long the exposure. sometimes it is a good idea to use the timer or a remote/cable shutter release as the slightest wobble will give this result

much prefer the 2nd . very nice . slightly soft but as isabella mentioned it could be from any number of things
