shutterbugParticipantHi and welcome to the site, first off if you embed the photos in the site you will get
more critique as we are a lazy lot and clicking on a link doesnt get a lot of replies! :)The first shot is a bit strange or is it me? It looks like the legs of the person are missing I am
wondering if you added it in or superimposed it? Second is out of focus, well the focus is on the
sun in the background making the flowers out of focus, maybe that is what you intended? The
third shot might be better if you cropped away a lot of the top and concentrated on the lily pads, there
is a lot of blown highlights where the light is hitting the water and it just tends to overpower the shot.
The last shot is nice, it looks like there is a huge hole in the middle of the trees allowing the sun to
shine right through them.Hope this helps some :)
goldsa4ParticipantHi Shutterbug! thanks very much for taking the time out to comment. Much appreciated!…..I’m not that good at computers,so have to learn how to embed my photos. The first photo I took is indeed very strange and for that reason i personally like it. We had a little fire, and my brother was standing behind the smoke. The sun projected his shadow onto the rising smoke, and if you look really closely you can see that he is about to walk forward.
In the second photo, I intended to have most of the focus on the setting sun and just have the outline of the flowers (chives). I agree with you on the third photo, there is too much sunlight been reflected off the water. It would look better without the top bit. I have alot more photos to share, so will try and find out how to embed them first.
Again thanks for your help! :)
texMemberI’ve looked at your shots and think that you have a very original approach to your photography. Your first shot is very striking and even now that I know how it was done I still find it impressive. Your final shot is also a strong composition, it’s a pity about the burn out of the sun. My advice, don’t change your approach too much.
goldsa4ParticipantThanks very much tex! “original”, that’s a lovely compliment! None of these photos were planned, I remember taking these after saying to myself ” oh, must run and get my camera!” :). I’ve taken your advice on board, will learn from my mistakes!
5faytheParticipantHi Michael,
Welcome to PI and I hope you find it a useful resource.
Well done on showing us some nice images in your first post.
You are actually 99% of the way towards embedding your images.
If you just highlight the links you have posted. (One at a time)
When you have highlighted it just click on the Img tab at the top of the page and [img]appears at both ends of the link.
Do this for each of your images and then submit the post.
The images will now show when a members look at your thread.I think it is good to number the images too so that members can easily refer to the image they are commenting on.
Thats it,
All the best,
John.
PS I have embedded your images here just to show that it works.
I can delete your images from this post when you embed them in your 1st post or straight away if you prefer.EDIT: I have deleted Michael’s images from this post as they are now visible in his original post.
goldsa4ParticipantHi John,
Thanks very much for your help. I now know how to embed my photos on to the site. Those photos were taken from my facebook page, as I don’t know how to upload them directly from my SD card. Could you help me with this please? :)
Thanks,
Michael.

Hi Michael,
Well done with the embedding.
Not sure how to upload directly from SD card.
I download all my files to my PC and I then upload any image (resized) I wish to post here to Flickr.
I then post a link to Flickr here much as you have done to the Facebook image.Cheers,
John.
goldsa4ParticipantThanks John,
Will open an account with Flickr. Appreciate your help.
Michael.
