Help, please!

  • Hello to everybody,
I am a student and I am obset with photography. I started taking pictures a few years ago after which I started learning more and more all kinds of techniques and skills. But now I came across a big problem. I have an old camera, I love my camera and I have learned all that I know with it. But it is starting to break, its an old fujifilm finepix S8000td. I wish to get to the next level like taking pictures with diferent lenses and learning even more new techniques. But this camera cant do as much as others can. The problem is I have no money to get a new camera.Im not asking for a sponsor because I know no one will go on a such risk. But I would like to ask if any of you know how I would be able to get atleast some money or perhaps a shop that sells cameras on credit. Working and saving is not an option because I am saving for college and living next year.
    Thank you in advance,
    Victoria

I prefer buying my cameras from camera shops….. however you could use Harvey Normans, they have Flexirent that you could use to finance your camera. Don’t know about the details involved in getting approval though.

SO if you are for real, I’d recommend you give them a call…….. Never understood why the Camera shops in town never latched onto this option…. if they did I’d be tempted to make some big purchases, finance over 12 months…… especially in this climate.

think you have to be in full time employment for that. why not borrow it from you parents?

film is great, you’ll learn more from a camera that does nothing for you. in the long run better off if you really love photography

old 35mm film cameras very cheap (30-50 euro). I’m a student, my digital is old and on the verge of death as are my lenses and the answer I’m afraid is “If wishes were horses the beggars would ride”.

    Ebay.

People buying things they couldn’t afford on finance got us where this country is today. Also shop finance is always a rip-off.

Good 35mm film SLRs can be picked up for a lot less than 30 euro. Or look for an old DSLR you can afford second-hand.

You don’t say what you’re going to study at college. If it’s photography, maybe the college can lend you a camera and lenses.

Yes. Some universities (e.g. NUI Galway) have photographic groups/societies with basic, but ok loan gear, open to any enrolled student member.
