MikkaParticipantExcellent shots Padraig. Your fieldcraft and wildlife documentary images are first class………./Mikka
PadraigParticipantThanks for the kind comments everyone. I took these using a photo trap. An IR beam was set across the log to trigger the camera and flashes. Cheating? Perhaps a little. I hope to remain and use a wireless shutter release next time. The marten was actually watching me set up from a nearby tree. At least I know that he is not afraid of the shutter or flash. I’ve put so much time and effort into this that I wanted the best chance of some return. What are your views of this technique?
brian807ParticipantphotomanMemberAfter all the hard work you put in to attracting the Pine Marten to the spot you are right to use any means possible to get the shot.
voicuParticipanti would call cheating a photo taken from the web and modified with 100 layers in photoshop and then call it your but not a technique used to take real shots. beautiful shots, well done! definitely worth all the effort
miki gParticipantI would be of the opinion that a photo trap is just another tool used to capture the images. So long as the equipment used doesn’t impact directly on the subject or it’s habitat, then I don’t have a problem with it.
PadraigParticipantMACParticipantI love the shoots
How did you find them to get a shot of them
what an excellent shots PadraigbigalguitarpickerParticipantI saw photos of bats on another forum. The photographer had seen them flying around his garden pond, eating flies rising from it. He set up IR triggers and he also set up a maze of strings tied to bamboo canes to ensure that the bats flew only in the area where he had his camera gear set up. The results were spectacular. I’m sorry I can’t remember what forum I saw this in. You should have seen the forum posts from f***wits bitching about “not proper photography”! Their chief gripe seemed to be that he wasn’t present to press the shutter button in person – maybe with a HiViz vest and a flashing light on his head! Numbskulls.
