Where To Buy?

Hi All,
I’m looking to buy a New Canon Lens, 50mm 1.4 and I’m not too sure where to buy it. Of Course i would love to buy it in Ireland but i know it would be too expensive. I got a quote from Pixmania.com for €376 inc Tax and P&P. I never bought anything from them before and i was wondering if anyone on here has bought anything from them or if anyone knows any better/Cheaper options.Thanks in Advance.
Conns in Dublin are selling it at 399.99 so not a huge difference in
price and at least if anything goes wrong you have a place to bring it
back to.For the €24 I’d definitely buy off cons, If you ever had a problem the customer service is first class.

I bought the Nikon version from Conns a while ago. Their web price was a bit above Berminghams but when I pointed it out they matched it.
Now were talking, Berminghams? where do they reside?

No joke, the airport Dixons can be worth a look, it’s worth having your prices researched before you head off.

Getting back to my original post, it appears No One has purchased from pixMania!!?
Why are you still asking about Pixmania ?? what people are trying to say is that you can go to Conns or Berminghams…walk in…talk to an acual person pay a price that is near enough the price you will pay online and walk out with a guarantee that if anything goes wrong you can then walk back to that shop and you will be looked after….try that with Pixmania…don’t think so !!!!
Some good Irish sources mentioned, which are easy to check online too. Conns and Berminghams are two great places for kit, with the customer service of Conns known to be outstanding. Try Gunnes also, they often have great price on kit too, and I always try work in a shameless plug for them as I like the place so much, and think you will understand too if you ever pop in there in Wexford St. Have also had a great experience with Paddy Barker in Cork, who is a gent to deal with.
Lastly, failing all the above, I would go to the web, should prices at the above and other local and national sources just prove ludicrous. Bought my first dslr through Pixmania back in ’05, and aside from it being French stock, with the resultant French manual and continental plug, they were fine to deal with. Others may have had issues with them, but my one experience was good. I would be tempted to look at Ffordes.co.uk and perhaps Warehouseexpress.co.uk if looking at alternative and online options.
