Lens insurance

    Hi all,

First post on here after reading for some time! I’m looking at getting into sports photography and I have been looking in to the nikon 70-200 f2.8 VRII to add on to my more basic set up. I’m just wondering would any of you out there insure something like this? I’m not sure if it’d be covered under house insurance, I’ll have to check up on this but if not then I’d be a bit worried about any accidents with such an expensive bit of kit (for me anyway!)
Any views would be welcom and if anyone knows of a good place to get them insured I’d love some recommendations.
    Cheers

Welcome to the site Will, this may be covered on your household insurance, and if not
you could add it on, would probably be cheaper than taking out specific insurance.

Thanks, I’ll have a look into that.

If you make even a single cent from your photos, then you can’t add it to your house insurance. You would need specific professional insurance.

Also, if doing sport, you should get some PL insurance too. Just in case a player runs in to you and gets injured or similar.

Personally, I get my insurance from http://www.camerainsurance.ie

I don’t believe it would be covered under home insurance once it’s outside of the home (ie at a match or other sporting event).
