For outdoors, most kit lenses are grand. But will you be using this lens for indoor shooting much? Might want something with a wider aperture. The 17-50 2.8 range are extremely popular. I’ve been using a tamron 17-50 for a few years now, it’s never let me down. If you need a bit more reach there are 24-70 or 28-70 variants. Tamron, sigma … and I’m sure Canon too. But that’ll be much pricier.

I was looking at them today, The man in the shop was saying 18-135mm and go for a 50mm 1.8 for indoor. would he be right?

Hi Brenner, depends on what type of photography you are doing…its a really open ended question,,,not a great lover of the 50mm f1.8 myself but again it depends what you want it for…its too close for portraits and not wide enough at low light concerts or events…again just give us an idea of the type of photography you are talking about and then you might get more in-depth answers…the “MAN” in the shop will most times be trying to sell you what he needs to get rid of…also depending on where you shop of course !!

My walkabout is a Tamron 24-70mm f2.8. I think it’s the bees knees. Bought it about a month ago and very pleased with the results.
