Last night’s Aurora

Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) Over the Cooley Mountains to the left of the shot : Check
Super bright moon to the right of the shot: Check
Moon highlighting the only frigging cloud in the sky: Check
A bit of light painting on the the Irish trader: CheckAwesome shot never to be repeated: Achievement unlocked! :-)
Wow. Just wow. And as Jodal said, didn’t know that the Aurora was coming down this far….
Also, just to help educate the rest of us (ok, me ;) ) can you give us some details on the shot i.e. method, EXIF date etc? Thanks in advance!
Terrific shot Bren, but I can’t help but wonder would the shot be even better if you had excluded the moon.
Have you tried cropping out the left hand side of the picture :-)

The settings for this shot was: A 3.5, FL 24mm, iso 2000, 30secs. 5dMII, TS II 24mm

BrenBren – thanks for the details on that, its always good to learn from others. I assume for the lighting on the Irish Trader it was a quick run up to each side and popping the flash?

Nah nothing as complicated as that Maurice :wink: I just painted it with my flashlight a few times as I took the exposure :wink:
