Which Podcast?

Gone2themoonParticipant
Howdy folks,
Looking for something to kill my 2 hour commute each day,
I’ve been through:
500+ episodes of Tips from the Top Floor
270+ episodes of This week in Photo
All the Photofocus episodes and a few others on iTunes.Any other suggestions of long running, established, professional podcasts to help with the trip?
Cheers
IanMartinParticipantHas your photography improved after watching all those pod casts? I would think there comes a point where they dont improve your photography anymore. Practice by doing not by watching…. Just rip some films or tv programs for the journey.

MurchuParticipantIf you can find them, have a look at Brooks Jensens Lenswork podcasts. They used to be available freely before, but may be restricted to his subscribers now. If you can get ahold of them, I think they are well worth listening to. The one you want is Photography and the Creative Process, where he talks in a very lateral and yet full circle way about photography and the image making process.
There used to be another podcast, one called 7 Questions, I believe, where a different photographer was interviewed about their photography each podcast. Could be a dead podcast now (I’m not sure), but there should be a decent sized archive.
Also have a look into another very interesting, and short enough podcast, called the history of photography, where a photography teacher, created the podcast for his summer students I believe, discussing the history and evolution of photography, but also made it freely available on itunes.
Re: podcasts and other magic bullets, I would agree with Martin, but then again one of the best pieces of advice for any photographer I believe is to have a great thirst for life, where one reads and explores widely, photography included.
MurchuParticipantGone2themoonParticipantHi Martin, Yes!.
Ok I should have mentioned, I drive, so its all audio. and yes listening to all these has improved my skills ‘cos I’ve come across new ideas, new techniques, marketing tips, photographic ideas, new photogs to research and much more. Tips from the top floor has expalined a lot that I probably would have never have learned in practice. I fully agree with you about “practice by doing” but I cant “Do” when I’m driving. Its about 10 hours a week spent learing/exploring rather than listening to the same music every day. I’ve just run out of resources to stem the boredom in transit.Murchu
Cheers, I’ll have a look for the Brooks Jensen stuff and the 7 questions.
I’ve been through the History of Photography stuff, very interesting. Loved the one about Manipulating Photos, and Women in Photography.
I think the Art of Photography is Video too? Must CheckOthers i’ve been through are,
The Digital Story ( good )
Digital Photography Life ( ok )
Martin Bailey Photograpy. ( very very slow paced )
Internet Marketing. ( Non photo )Thanks for the Replys Folks.
Any other Suggestions?
Mad EejitParticipantHi,
You could check out the Two Hosers podcast (a Hoser is Canadian version of the hurler on the ditch apparently.) They’re two friends, one of them is a pro, teaching his buddy who’s just starting out. The first few episodes are pretty basic stuff (what is aperture etc), but picks up quick enough. Definitely the funniest photo podcast I’ve come across, laugh out loud funny sometimes. It’s pretty much all about technique though, much more useful than the endless sales pitch on TWiP etc. They’re up to about 100 episodes now.
