Ever have one of those days?
-
AndrewWParticipant
Any one else have one of those days where yalu just don’t get anything good? I was out in the city all day today and I feel I didn’t get one shot worth looking at! I’m absolutely raging over this as it was my only day this week I could get out to shoot. :( I’m sure there is maybe one photo in the bunch I could manage to render somewhat useful but this has really dampened my mood now!
Any one have any ideas of things to shoot at home I could try??
IsabellaParticipantwhat is it about your home that makes it ‘home’ rather than just some house? how does it and its surroundings reflect you as a person? or does it?
yes i have those days quite a bit…
MurchuParticipantPar for the course, learn from it (if you can), and persevere. Improvement will come, and as it does so, these days will become more infrequent.
Re: indoor shooting, perhaps consider still life, or perhaps an architectural study of your home, or as per Isabella’s suggestion aim to capture in pictures what home or your home means to you.
miki gParticipantI’ve gone days, weeks & even months without getting an image that I was “totally” happy with. I think that as we progress, we become more critical of our own work, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Also, sometimes we fail to “see” potential photographs in scenes that are too familiar to us. Rather than looking at the overall scene, pick out the smaller detail within the scene or look for unusual shooting angles to shoot from. I shot macro everyday in a piece of “ugly” waste ground in a derelict building site for over a year & got some good shots almost every day, so don’t only look at the pretty stuff when on a walkabout.
As for shooting in the home, macro is fun there too, or you could shoot a few family shots.AnonymousParticipantI agree with you completely miki!
I think we need to examine our style & try to step outside of our comfortable boundaries.
We need to see things differently or from a new angle & push ourselves even further.
Start shooting subjects or events that you’ve never done before & get in the way.
Try to be anything but a passive photographer!
