Natural Light Forest Portraits – C&C Please

I’ve been wanting to work on my portrait photography for a while now as its not my strongest area. I was out walking at the lakes in Blessington with my girlfriend on saturday and she kindly agreed to let me practice taking a few portraits of her. I found a nice little spot in the forest with the sunlight coming through the trees and took about 30 shots. I’m quite happy with these pictures but would love to hear some feedback. Any suggestions for post processing or composition? For the vertical portrait where she’s looking up into the corner of the frame I wanted that soft diffused sunflare look, there’s very little PP on this one. The flare is as I shot it. Is it too soft/diffused? Is there any good presets available for lightroom for this kind of stuff?

i really like the first 3 . beautiful light for all and nice bokeh in 1 and 2 . that said i do think that for my liking 2 is probably a little too diffused …maybe a slight tweak in contrast would do the trick ? 4 is a nice shot but i find the blown out highlights around her head to be quite distracting and not really working as flare.. on a different note your lucky your gf is so comfortable in front of camera…asking my wife to get in front of the camera….well lets just say i may as well be asking her to run backwards , down o’connell street , naked ! :-) really nice set . portraits are something i need to practice myself , i have done very , very few ! tending to stick to landscape. if i can get mine anywhere near the standard of yours , ill be very happy !

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciated. I see what you mean about the 4th pic. Bad placement I guess. I saw some portraits done with a sunflare soft feel and wanted to try recreate that same feel/look. Might have been better placing the sun slightly away from her head but was so caught up in getting some nice pics I didn’t really notice it, was just happy I was managing to get a similar enough look to some of the shots.

The second shot again is something I had seen a similar look to. Perhaps I went a little over soft on this one. Here’s a quick edit I did on my iPad… better? worse?

your edit is almost perfect , only for the fact that it now seems to have gained a bit of a red tint ?? reduce that slightly and your on a real winner !!

Oops, was playing about with tints on the iPad and added that red tint. Now removed:
