Hello to Photographyireland.net from across the Irish Sea

    Dear Friends

I am based in London and am an MA student (though I admit a rather aged, post retirement one) at the London Metropolitan University. My current module is on Digital Photography and I have chosen as a project to set up a blog to act as a forum for photo-conversations between photographers from different countries. The URL is http://www.internationalphotoblog.co.uk but it is very much under construction, so don’t be too critical!

My aim is to bring together photographers from pairs of countries that (to be tactful) have had a little bit of bother at some time. For example, I have asked an Israeli photographer and a Palestinian one to contribute. I tried an Iranian photographer but she was scared of being murdered if she took part, so I dropped that one. (I was going to pair her with Israel or the US). I am in touch with a Greek and a Turkish photographer. You get the idea. Any Irish photographer would be paired with me to start with.

I want to make it largely visual, so I’m asking for images, with a short title and a photographers name or web-name only. The images are emailed to me and I will post them. I’m doing it this way to keep tight editorial control, as I don’t want it to get out of hand. Nevertheless, I undertake to post any reasonable photo. I though we could just start with photos of anything going on in your country. For example, the ones I put up are of craftspeople working in the UK. Nothing very political.

I’ll be running this for a maximum of 6 months only, so the commitment isn’t open-ended.

Please get in touch if you are interested in joining in. My address is paulrobinsonphotographygmail.com.

I very much look forward to hearing from you. Being half Irish myself, I’m keen to link up with people across the sea.

    Regards

There has never been ‘bother’ between our two countries. Only a misunderstanding, on ye’re behalf!

Sounds like a great idea Paul. Best of luck timing someone to partner up with.

Thank you, John17, for that interesting and disturbing story. I’ll put a copy on my blog and see what transpires.
