Wonderful shot. Special tones and works compositionally as presented. Would look great framed-up on the wall.
mwallParticipantYes I like it RAS, very peaceful looking, hardly a ripple, perfectly still heron and the colour you left on the boat gives it a nice little lift.
RASMITH32MemberThanks guys . Still trying to find a specific style in my landscapes but might have found something here I can build on
IsabellaParticipantthis one is much better than the other, the (almost) empty space balances the bout and heron. also heron has moved so has more space around him making him more a part of the scene. the two buoys (or whatever they are) leading out to sea add a lot of depth. really nice.
on a matter of style i wouldn’t overly concern yourself, just let each image be what it is… photography is by its nature styleless…
sndipoMemberVery good. Like the colour on the boat and the ‘tranquility’ off the whole shot. No bad words about it anyway! Always vary about pictures with large areas of light but you’ve pulled it off well :)
RASMITH32MemberstreetshooterMemberAbsolutely beautiful shot – the tranquility positively flows from it!
One observation, the foregound empty space really leads the eye to the boat and heron, but the large amount of empty sky up top could be reduced – taking the skyline up to the upper third of the shot – it would accentuate the shot’s subjects more? :)

UndercrankMemberLooking at this special shot again I’d be so tempted to turn the bird around so it’s looking into the space on the right. It’s a good thing I don’t enter photo competitions!
texMemberIt does what it says on the lid. But is it just me that can’t see the reflection of the heron in the water?
IsabellaParticipantha! me neither! so since it wasn’t really there you might as well turn it around!
RASMITH32MemberFiar play Tex. This shot has been posted and viewed by many an a few sites and you are the first person to notice that!. Must be a vampire heron or something . He flew in from another shot of mine . He shall be turned and reflected , will add to this chain.
Nice one!
RASMITH32MemberOk Took some advice offered and made some tweaks , also killed the heron. Apart from his lack of shadow :-) I actually feel that the image is better balanced and his removal contributes more to the theme of tranquility. As follows……..
streetshooterMemberjodal1975ParticipantYep , it was good before but it’s great now ….. I’m not sure you needed to lose the heron though !
