Canon import Camera and Lens Question

I did a search but couldnt find anything. Looking to Buy a new Camera and Lens in the next few months to with the cost in America compared to Uk is excellent. My only fear is with International warranty am i right in thinking that if i bought the canon body and say the canon 70-200 f2.8 the warranty would not extend to europe? read some reports that only L series are covered. Just wondering if it doesnt extend is it worth the risk.

Not sure on warranty but be prepared to pay VAT 23% and import duties on delivery. If the sender says that there will be none then chances are the excellent price is because they are refurbs/2nd hand, stolen or will go missing in the post.
If it sounds too good to be true… etc. etc.
btw even if you buy it on holiday and bring it back, you could still get stung…
Planning on going over to America for a few weeks and was going bringing over my current equipment and just bring home the lens and body. Could get my hands on receipts to bring over from ireland if need be.
