I dont understand there are 6900 members registered but still its never really busy how come ?
Or does the majority of the members suffer from bad winter blues ?Cheers :-)
markst33ParticipantYeah, You used be be guaranteed some comments on any image posted up, good or bad or indifferent. Nowadays you see images with 60, 70 80 views and not one comment. Weird alright.

MarkKeymasterNot sure really tbh. I’ve noticed on any forum (believe it or not there are forums for people who have forums lol) that despite how many members you always have a core number of posters which doesn’t seem to change generally after that. Lots and lots of others then visit but don’t post.
Of course as has been said in the past, FB has a negative impact in terms of people who used to come on here for just a chat etc…I have been playing with a version of the site which has a more social network look and feel and more integrated into FB and Twitter.
Perhaps that would help….markst33ParticipantHow about some reward for reaching a certain number of comments on unique threads.Like getting little icons next to your username like on ephotozine.com ? Something like that. Or after you have hit a certain amount posts a locked part of the site is opened up to you …..I am just brainstorming a bit here :)

MarkKeymasterjohnnypanicParticipantHow about the prize of a Nikon D600 to the first member to type the letters asfdkfadfjadf. Ohh that’s me

I’m now going to delete your comment and type that in myself ;)
markst33ParticipantComments/Posts must contain more than 15 characters so as to stop comments such as “Cool” or Nice Shot” counting towards the required number of posts.

SeoirseMemberI’m not sure what the answer is to getting people to post more often (mind you I’m in no position to talk about that) but I guess it could be down to forum fatigue, possibly?
Whatever, I think full credit to Mark for keeping the site moving along with so many sponsors and such activity and functionality.
Well done, Mark.
:D
markst33ParticipantHow about a section where regular posters can go to and say, Hey Guys, I have posted a new image, here’s the link to it….go mad…” That way those who regularly post comments and critiques are rewarded by being guaranteed getting comments and critiques on their images.

You have to take into consideration that a great number of those “members” registered maybe only to sell some of their gear, registered and forgot they did and registered under another username, registered after getting a camera but never got into photography . . .etc, etc.
I have registered on forums and post maybe twice a year.
The “Critique” sections here on PI seems to be the busiest section. over the last few years there is an over dependance on “critique”.
There needs to more interaction with discussions etc. and not just here is my pic now comment.
IDEA: invite a member to to show their work for a monthly Gallery, say 10 pieces of work
IDEA: collaborations and photo/postcard swapsMarkKeymastermiki gParticipantHow about “PI the Gathering” ? 6900 members meeting up with their cameras, now that would be an eye opener.
