Recently aqquired a Nikon. 300mm F4. . .Truth be told , I had been struggling to get the keeper rate up bigtime , even at extremely high shutter speeds… Today I decided to remove the cheap Hama UV filter that I forgot I had put on the day I got the lens. .. No award winning shot by any means but for a handheld one at dusk, ,my faith is restored a little with this lens.

Stopped very well indeed Dec and you even have catchlight. What’s the background though?? Its throwing me a bit! Looks like a fancy wallpaper.

I always find when a lens is recommended and you buy it, well it takes time to get to know it and achieve what you are expecting. I’m sure you’ll find that point Dec.

Thanks for taking the time Pat.. I agree , I couldnt believe the low amount of keepers I was getting… No these black backgrounds are not to everyone’s taste and this was my first time trying it out using an action..

    Thanks

Very nice Dec, that’s definitely an improvement on the last shot you posted. I love the catch light in the eye, well captured.
