Mastercard & Visa payments

GCPParticipant
For all of you who take card payments I have just discovered a cost effective way of doing it.
I have added a link here if you wish to sign up. My old provider costs me 15.37 terminal rental
and a minimum commission payment of 30.00 per month also.SumUp give you a free terminal which you can plug into your smartphone and take card payments on the spot,
anywhere, anytime. Terminal is FREE and they only charge you 2.5% on each transaction. No additional charges.
So far it’s card present transactions for Mastercard and with Visa there is a way of doing it differently. This is
supposed to change in the future.Anyway, it costs nothing to sign up and is worth having.
It may not be for everyone but it will help most small operators who need to keep a tight budget on costs.

brownieParticipantMarkKeymasterphillipMemberRockabillyslimMemberHi Gerry,i have seen this online and i think its the way to go especially when at events & out of studio and needing to make transactions, however im wondering how customers feel about this device attached to your phone taking their card details, they are dubious enough as it is,just wondering has anybody tried it out in the field so to speak.
GCPParticipantI have been using it for a few weeks and people are very impressed so far. They tend to wonder at the technical advances.
I believe that more will follow this trend in time. It’s a great saving also on charges. I’m saving 45.37 per month (425.00 per year) which is the profit of a wedding after costs. I’d be mad not to use it and as I say, I’m using it since early January. Its free to sign up and costs nothing to have.
So, click on my link and have a go.https://sumup.com/go/gerrycostellophotog” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
PhotoSligoMemberAre you taking all this stuff (terminal to… for example wedding?) You did not take payment earlier? or by cheque or cash on day ?
What is point to have this terminal? Most of people have no problem to pay by cheque, why you decide pay 2.5% for transaction! if you charge for wedding €1000 are going to pay €25 insted 85 cents charge (when they paid by cheque) or…why not ask for cash?
Maybe i should get one of those, as i might not understand properly what is idea of having it (sorry if i not:))GCPParticipantSome people wish to pay by credit card or by debit card. Its just another option of getting paid. Better if they use cash or cheque but not everyone has the money at the time and will use their card as it gives them more time to pay off the card. It’s really just another form of payment and in this day and age we have to take payments in whatever form it’s offered. The credit card has been very popular for years now but was confined to registered business and one needed a terminal which cost a monthly rental. This company SumUp is now opening it up to ordinary people to accept card payments. So its another service to seller and buyer.
thefizzParticipantSounds very useful indeed. Is there a minimum number of transactions required each month to avail of the 2.5% rate or does it apply regardless of how much you use their service?
GCPParticipantNo minimum transactions. If you do none at all there is no charge which is what I like.
Click on the link and see if it is for you. As I said it costs nothing to sign up and you have
the option to use or not.thefizzParticipantThanks Gerry. I notice the fee has gone up to 2.75%, still not bad though.
bryanhParticipantBrilliant thanks! I had been looking for an alternative to Square which is only available in the US.
sachinvMemberThank Gerry, really useful.
