Old cameras

    Hi all,

A while ago I was given two cameras – Exakta ES-10 and Miranda MS-3. I had been keeping them more for sentimental reasons but recently, as i want to buy a new lens for my digital camera, I have decided to try and sell them. Does anyone know any sites where to sell them or would it be worth it?

    Thanks

Looking at completed auctions on ebay should give you an idea of what they are worth. My own feeling though is that there is a lot of used film gear out there, and people only really pay money for the best of it. Not sure what the Exacta may be worth, but found an MS-3 for £8 when I googled it, so you may have to temper your expectations..

That’s great guys. Thanks. Sorry for delay. Internet was down for a bit. Yeah, eBay first popped in my head but was hoping maybe there was some shop that may take them. Will give it a shot. Thanks. 8)

Unfortunately unless it was a top end model when it was new, a Leica, Hassleblad or popular with students, Rollieflex or Yashica Mat, you’re looking at a very niche market and may have difficulty selling, even the top end 35mm Nikon and Canon models are going for peanuts (shame that it is)
I haven’t come across Exacta before but according to http://collectiblend.com/Cameras/Ihagee-Westberlin/Exakta-Real.html” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; depeding on model it might be a collectible.

Ebay’s probably the best bet, you have a world wide market and all you need is two people who want it.

    Best of luck anyway

Yeah, Exakta are fairly difficult to get info on. I think,Exakta were the previous name of another brand, perhaps Miranda as they both look almost identical. I may give eBay a shot. At least the lenses with these cameras seem to be going for a bit there. :?

I have an exacta varex 2a. they were made by ihagee and were one of the early 35mm camera’s aimed at the professional market. I used it quite a bit for about 6 months, its a very sophisticated machine and quite complicated to work out.
when i checked it was worth about E50, not enough to be bothered selling it.

Yeah, I noticed that but maybe the lenses I have with them will get a wee bit more for them and help me towards saving for a new lens for my canon. Have a vivitar 3d which seems to be fetching a good price.
