Looking for a little feedback, good, bad or indifferent, on these shots. Last Saturday was my first day using a Canon 70-200 L f4 lens and just want your thoughts. Camera was a Canon 1D Mk 2 N, which I love, and the photos were taken around mid-day on Saturday.
The only post production done on them was cropping.
SeaviewParticipantI think number 3 is your best as you captured nice expressions on the boys faces. I think when you’re taking photos of team sports it’s all about expressions which can be both interesting and humorous. I think you should try and get closer and try to isolate individuals.
Dave.
Gortan60ParticipantYa, the third one is my personal favourite from the three as well. Thanks for the comment, appreciate that.

paulParticipantI’ll leave the same advice that I give anyone doing sports –
get down low – sit or kneel
Watch your horizons.Otherwise, a good set of images.

I know, my biggest problem when kneeling or crouching is that I suffer from a bad dose of arthritis in one knee and can’t stay down too long! Been looking around for a good case that would double as a stool but finding it hard to get one reasonably priced, so if you know anywhere where a good sturdy one could be got let me know.
Thanks for the kind comments, much appreciated. I’ve been shooting underage sports for a few years for my local clubs simply because my kids were playing but this year I’m expanding a bit. Got myself an FAI Media Pass for the 2013 Aitricity League and have got acrred. for my first Munster game this Saturday as well when they play Edinburgh in the Rabo, so slowly making inroads and getting the name out there. Any tips and tricks from folks like yourself are very much taken on board and I will try and be a regular poster here with new stuff.
Cheers
Gerry
paulParticipantPlenty of tips and tricks on my website. :) I know, shameless plug – http://www.photography.paul-walsh.net
As for a case – Peli or Storm (made by Peli) are your only man. I used to have a Storm iM2500 which I just sold. Solid and reliable and would hold anyone. Only a few places in Ireland stock them, and they are all around the same price, depending on case, size, etc.

I’ll try and track those ones down then..no harm in plugging your site, I have called by there on more than one occasion in the past and still occasionally scan it for new stuff…Like the fact that you are willing to pass on tips, to point people in the right direction and you genuinely seem interested in what everyone is up to. You are certainly not a “Me, Me and Only Me” as I call them!…Cheers again for the case info…Gerry
