Hi all…I have a Canon Mk 2 N and a Sunpak auto 433 AF flash, need some advice on usage. I know flashes can be problematic with the 1D, or so some folk tell me, and I’m just trying to work out if I can work out some way of using this rather old and dated flash unit with my 1D. See, thing is, I might only use a flash twenty times in the year and have no desire to spend silly money, or any money, if this relic of a flash can be used. The camera manual is of no use to me, can’t find any reference to the Sunpak range, and internet forums vary in their views on it. Anyone out there use the same combination as me?
The flash gun you have described was designed for The Canon EOS film cameras DO NOT USE IT on a digital camera as the trigger voltage will be too high and can cause serious damage to your camera. Digital flash units have a trigger voltage of around 5 volts, while older film camera flashes have a trigger voltage of about 200 volts. The flash to camera foot may be the same but that’s where compatibility ends.

Thanks Martin, time to spend a bit of cash so! Pity, as the unit is in great condition.
