It’s been a while. I’m still harping on about this. I’m very bad at starting or initiating something, so I need a kick in the pants. I mentioned in an earlier post (very early) about an Society or Assocciation or something for disabled photographers. That’s not the best forum I think (correct me if I’m wrong).
I’m an amateur, a hobbyist. I don’t really see any merit going for the “A”s, “L”s or “P”s. Personally I’m not all that interested in becoming an accredited member of anything, and I don’t feel anyone has the right to pass judgement over what and how I choose to photograph. I not all that pushed about competition either. Having said that though, I acknowledge the benefits of having your peers approval of your work, and provide constructive criticism where needed, and advice.
With this in mind, is anyone interested is starting or joining a Facebook group? I know there’s one covering the UK and I’m sure there’s one in America, but it would be nice I think to get one going here in Ireland. I’m not necessarily the best one for the job, but I’ll start a page up if there’s enough interest, with the idea that it’s self perpetuating. I wouldn’t want to place any restrictions on this, except to say that those joining should really have a passing interest in disabled people themselves, whether they are disabled of if they support them or want to.
It’s a good hobby as it goes, and I think its accessible to most notwithstanding the startup cost…by the way, send me an email (oreilly.larsgmail.com) if you’re interested, cause I’m rubbish for remembering to log on here and check messages.
