How Much To Charge?
-
Gortan60Participant
I have been asked/booked to do a wedding in August and while it will not be my first one, it will be the first with a digital setup. I did two weddings about twenty years ago using film and if memory serves me, I wasn’t hung, drawn or quartered afterwards so the results must have been acceptable!
I do not usually offer my services for weddings (usually sport) but times are tough and the few bob will be handy, which leads me to my question.
How much will I charge? I’m competent and confident enough to carry out the job, I will be using decent lenses, and I will know quite a few of the folk at the wedding so a good result might lead to more bookings. Like I said, how much would be reasonable? They just want all images on disc, and a slideshow of the days event.
I was thinking of asking a friend along as second shooter and allowing €100 for his cut, so factor that in.
Thanks folks.

johnnycorcoranParticipantYou need to work out how much are you worth for a hour / day…. and are you doing up a Album then you need to search for the album cost to add on top of that, and your time to do on the computer to design an Album, etc…
Everyone is not the same as someone offer €500, other offer €8k… mostly around 1k to 2k
I would sit down and look up the album cost, my times, etc.. once you are feeling comfortable… “Its who you are, are worth it”
PhotoSligoMemberHi, same as Johny said. Depands how good you are. Check other photographers portfolio/pricing compare to your (put into account: insurance, expirance, your creativity, do you have back -up equipement etc, and how you final product will look (album or dvd )than estimate your price. Nowadays for €1200 you can find realy good quality photographer and for 1500-1700 you can hire one of top wedding photographers (top in my scale) in Ireland (without albums)
