Help choosing a tripod
-
collyParticipant
I need to upgrade my tripod as I have some bigger lenses and the little one I have cannot handle it. Kinda confused by all the options but I reckon right now something like the Manfrotto 190 series will suit me. Either the 190XPROB with adjustable centre column, but i’m not sure I’ll ever even use it so might just go with the 190DBX. Head wise I’m thinking the 496RC2.
It’s about €200 for these two, but Its more than I really want to spend. I’m wondering are there others that I should consider that are better value?
Any comments appreciated – thankshttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Manfrotto-XPROB-Tripod-Legs-Only/dp/B000MQFQU6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1365104558&sr=1-1&keywords=190XPROB” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;

If the Manfrotto is tall enough extended, will hold what you plan to put on it, and has the other features you need in a tripod, I would go for it. I agree it can be confusing, but the key variables tend to be total extended length, total length when not extended, and weight. I have an older version of the 190, and find it a great tripod, only thing I would change it for, or supplement it with, would be a lighter more travel friendly tripod. €200 may seem expensive now, but €150/ €200 is the minimum you are looking at for a decent tripod with a head. Good luck with your choice :)
