pending wedding shoot

Hi All, I have been asked to do a wedding in the near future and though excited about the prospect am a little nervous!. Some of the shots will be outdoors with scenic landscapes as the background.

Was at the site at the weekend and unfortunately , if its sunny the sun come from the back of the party as we shoot out.

Any tips on how to deal with these sort of wedding shots ?. Also would you typically use filters whilst shooting outdoor wedding shots?, ie. a polariser?….or would you suggest a UV filter would be adaquate….or would you actually recommend not to use a filter at all to retain good sharpness and detail in the shots .

Also read about a soft filter recently. Anyone used these and recommend to use for selective shots or not worth the cash and stay away?

    Appreciate a steer…………

use fill flash for those moments, the only filters i would use is the nd filter to keep my lens at 1.8 or 2.8, dont bother with any other filter setup cos you wont have time, all go go go on the wedding day and no body is going to wait around for you to setup and get the shot, remember to check your settings, get your safe shots, then try something different when you have a chance.

    Hi Ras.
As Philip suggests, use fill in flash if needed. Personally, I wouldn’t use any filters as they tend to cause flare if facing the sun. I’d also use a lens hood to avoid unwanted light from entering the lens & affecting your metering. If you can, get a handheld meter & meter from the subjects position facing the camera. Also, shoot in RAW.
    Best of luck with it.
