Pine Marten

PadraigParticipant
One from last July that I’d forgotten to process. Don’t think I’ll have the time this year to track ’em down.
1/250, F11, ISO 250,Two Flashes on half power.
peewee3ieMemberI like it big time Padraig.
Love the detail in the photo. I can’t see anything wrong with it but I am no pro at taking photos.
miki gParticipantNicely captured Padraig. He (or she) looks quiet relaxed & natural. Did you shoot remotely?
shutterbugParticipantGreat shot Padraig, I have never seen one in the wild (or otherwise) so very
envious! :)PadraigParticipantThanks for the comments. They are getting more numerous around this part of Carlow/Wexford/Kilkenny.
Had to use an IR beam to trigger the camera. They (there were two) were very nervous. I was at home in front of the TV while the photo was taken at 2150. Although one watched me set up the camera from a near by oak. My intention was to be there to press the shutter but I was running out of time and opportunities thanks to the wet summer so I opted for the camera trap.MikkaParticipantHi Padraig, regardless of whether you were there to press the shutter release or not, you used your fieldcraft, knowledge of the subjects behaviour and photographic skills to capture another excellent image.
Without the patience and dedication you apply to getting these shots a lot of people would not even know what a Pine Marten looks like and it is always a pleasure to view them……./Mickmiki gParticipantMikka wrote:

You used great skill in setting up the shot & it is not an easy task to predict what way an animal will behave when you are not there to study them. I”m in favour of camera traps if it means placing less stress on the creature & allows them to act naturally in their environment.
PadraigParticipantbrian807ParticipantThis year is the year i photograph a pine marten! well thats what i keep telling myself! such a great shot – well done
PadraigParticipantThanks Brian. Should be plenty of them in Wicklow. Just takes a bit of time and a lot of chicken drumsticks!! :D
