All taken on the Great Saltee on Monday June 3 2013.
I confirmed what i already suspected – a trip to see the puffins on a sunny day with blue skies is more or less a waste of time.
You will have much more numbers and activity (and obviously better light) when you have a sea fog, mist, low cloud or soft rain.
It was a damp morning – and the sun and blue skies appeared at 1pm – within 20 minutes the 30 or so puffins were back on the water for the rest of the day.
Puffins with a 300mm f/4 + 1.4x
Gannets with a 70-200
Super shots! Love the portrait with the fish. Think the light is landing nicely and making the silver more shiny and the puffin is tilting its head just nicely to add to the expression :)
