Hi, I’m Nicky from Belfast and my favourite place to photograph is Donegal. I was thinking about starting to sell some of my photos but wasn’t really sure where to go or what to do. So I’m here! Have a wee look sure.

    Thanks :)

Your images would not inspire me but that’s just my opinion.
I think if you have a look at some work here on the site in areas that interest you,
you might see that it’s a long road in learning & being creative (for me at least)

    Hi John,

Thanks for your reply. What inspires you?
I’m not really sure where to look for examples of other work. Do you know where I should look on this site?

What inspires me is a good black & white & I particularly like black & white.
Good photographers in my view on this site to name but a few are Brendan Cullen, Peter Eoin & Sirvad.
I hope they don’t mind me mentioning their names but that would be a good cross section of
interests between wildlife, sports & landscape.

If you click on a photographers name that should show you a link to their posts.

hi nicky, welcome to the site.

there are many images (of all standards) to be seen in the critique section of the forums, some of which you will undoubtedly like and others which you will not. it is good to see a wide variety and make up your own mind. photography, as with all art, is extremely subjective and one persons opinion may not be shared by all.

    enjoy!

    Hi Nicky,

have a look at this site

This chap has a shop in Dawson Street in Dublin, he has some very nice pieces which undoubtedly sell to your target audience.

Hopefully this might give you an idea of the topics you should be shooting.

    Hi Nicky,

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on some nice images. I think selling images is a tough business, and for many talented photographers it is something they have had to invest a lot of time and effort into, after which online sales were still not what they expected.

I think you may be well served by understanding what there is demand out there in the market for, and pursuing a focus on these type of images, if you are interested in generating money.

Of course a lot will depend on what your intentions are, be they to simply sell a few prints, and get your work out there, or rather instead to pursue image sales with a real commercial drive/ focus. If the latter, the unfortunate truth is most of what sells well tends to be what we would think of as classic/ cliche’d imagery, wall art basically, sunsets/ silhouettes/ et al. If the latter, there are some good books out there you may find helpful, one is Photo’s That Sell by Lee Frost, another is Making Money From Photography In Every Conceivable Way by Steve Bavister.

Welcome to the site, and good luck with your image sales :)
