I was the Ardara shows which is held every year in Ardara in Co. Donegal. I had a go at taking some pic of these. All comment and crits welcome.
AnonymousParticipantI’m curious to know what range of lens you had in your collection?
Could you have gotten any closer to the birds & at a lower level?
Beautiful birds & a pity there is too much going on in the background of the shots.peewee3ieMemberHi John,
The lens is a 18-200 DX Nikon lens on a D90. I would have gone closer but there was a rope fence around them. The fence was about 2 foot way in places and I would have sat on the ground and taken some if my back was not kill me with pain as hurt it that morning.
I also have a 28-80 lens with micro at 80 but I did not have it with me and the basic lens 18-55 Nikon lens on a D3000. I also have a old 50mm manual lens as wellJohn do you mind me asking why ask what lens I had in my collection. For some reason I think ether know you or have met you.
AnonymousParticipantHi Tony, the only reason I asked was I was wondering if you were in some way connected with the display & gotten
closer to the birds without the background distraction. I wasn’t aware of a restriction about the birds but with hindsight I shouldn’t be surprised.
Sorry to hear about your back!peewee3ieMemberHi John,
I kinda wish I was as would love to get a photo of the birds without any thing in the backround. I am also going to try and find out there is any where near me where the birds are and go and try and get better photos of them.
I don’t have a bad back, I just pulled something in it that morning of the show as I was taking sound gear out of my car.
The other reason I ask did I know you or meet you as there was others about with DLSR around there was one person said something to me about this site as I was using my camera strap that I bought from here a few years back.
shutterbugParticipantTony have you ever visited “Eagles Flying” bird of prey centre in Ballymote? A super
day out and you can get up really close to the birds. A good opportunity to get them
in flight also as the have a flying exhibition of them. Wouldnt be a million miles away
from you would it?peewee3ieMemberHi Jenny,
No I never been there and now I know where it is. I am going to try and make a trip there soon and get a few more photo and some up close as well.
Thank you Jenny as well for the info.
