Sliver – Yosemite from Glacier Point Panoramic

I’ve titled this ‘Sliver’. Simply in relation to the small amount of gorgeous light peeking through the clouds, hitting Half Dome and beyond. We spent a few hours up on Glacier Point waiting for sunset. The light was constantly changing with light coming in & out of the clouds & hitting different parts of the scene below. I shot this image with the 30mm lens as I wanted to include as much of the scene & clouds as possible. I chose to use 0.6 grad filter to retain a little detail in the granite below Half Dome without losing the incredible colours in the clouds.

(More on the trip here – http://www.markcapilitan-art.com/2013/10/21/storm-over-half-dome-yosemite/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;)

Technical: Hasselblad Xpan2, 30mm lens, Fuji Velvia, 0.6 Lee Hard RF ND Grad Filter.

You can nearly feel wind and cold just looking at this and it was probably lovely and warm :)

    Great pic.

Ballyman, it was anything but warm! It was indeed freezing cold with a biting wind! I forgot how cold it gets up there in September…it was worth freezing though for the light show we got!
