Munster Intermediate Hurling 2013

  Munster Intermediate Hurling quarter-final at Pairc Ui Rinn, Cork on Sunday 27th October last, Youghal vs Ardmore. Shot 1 is a shot of 17 year old Ollie Dempsey scoring Youghals last of four goals. They won…boo hoo hoo…I’m from Ardmore… :(
  Shots 2 and 3 are general shots from the game. Gear used was Nikon D7000 and Sigma 70-200 f.8

  I met you at the game – we’re delighted with the win! Off to Clare tomorrow for the next round.
  I use a Canon EOS Rebel XTi with a Canon 100-400 IS 1:4.5-5.6 zoom.
  My pics didn’t come out as good as yours though. Any advice?

  Hi Phil, ya remember meeting you alright. Your combination is good so I can’t think of a reason that would return poor results. Were you on Aperture Priority or Shutter Priority? Or some other setting? I usually shoot sports at Aperture Priority, daylight would be set at about f4 to f8 depending on what kind of sport. Floodlit games I drop it to f2.8. the lens I used that day is pretty good, even if it is still a Sigma (some people hate them!). My ISO for daytime games varies between 500 and 3200; the Nikon D7000 I have gives great results all the way to ISO6400 so no worries there. Post an image or email me one or two and I’ll have a look.
