DSLR for movies?

My Nikon D200 gave up the ghost a few days ago, when just before I was to cover a soccer match there was no power, totally dead :( (still small hope it might revive itself if google is right). I thought I only had it around 4-5 years but when I checked I had it for 8 years so I can’t complain as its served me well. Anyhow, I’ve replaced it with the Nikon D7100 (early Xmas pressie for me) which has HD vid capture and was wondering if any photographers here on PI have done anything other than just shooting video of the family with their cameras ? :)

    Cheers

Very nice pressie to get, we’ll have to arrange a PI cork meet to try it out. As for the video, I find it difficult enough to take still images. :D

    Well wear.

Thanks Dave. Yep it is for sure, hopefully I’ll get 8 years out of this one too :). Haven’t taken a non-soccer photo in a year I’d say so do need to get out somewhere other than a sports pitch :)

I’ll be posting up some suggestions for a couple of PI trips in the New Year, was thinking way West Cork, down around Allihes where I’ve never been and perhaps another back up to Northern Ireland where we’ve had some great trips in the past – maybe the North Coast next time, a place we’ve never done before. Would be happy to go on a camping photography trip too sometime also :)

Oh ya, that could be my New Years resolution :D , a photography camping trip, just what I need. As for Allihies, it would nearly be easier for me to go to the north coast.
