This is a famous landmark in Wexford in a place called The Faythe (pronounced fai-th not faith). I wandered down with a m42 helios 58/2 44m-4 on my digital camera but was very restricted with the prime…I’m not used to it and to have to walk to get the better shot would have put me in the middle of a busy road.
Anyway, the swan, at night…at Christmas.

    very interesting image wonka!

you have your groove back . . .

nice to see someone using old Russian glass on modern cameras here on PI.
do you have a focus confirm adapter? id say manual focus without would be tricky in low light?

    i really like this

    Cheers Alan.
No focus confirm I’m afraid. I got a cheapy adapter but for the night shot I had to use the aperture and focus gauge on the lens to work out the focus. But I had it at F16 so I had plenty to play with. It was trial and error though.

    Thanks for the comments.

ah, were the aperture and focus gauge accurate?

i can imagine if the lens registry distance is incorrect with
the cheap adapter the focus scale would be off too.

With F16 it’s very forgiving. I wouldn’t trust it for low DOF at night though.
