Hey all
I’m both new here and new to photography! I’ve always wanted a decent camera so when I finally got back to work I decided to buy myself one for Christmas. I’m going to have loads of questions so hopefully I can get the help I need here. I’m using a Canon 600D with the standard 18-55mm lense and a Sigma 70-300mm also. I plan on picking up a tripod when payday finally comes around again….. feels like its months away! I’m using it in manual mode as I don’t want anything to do with the auto mode, I’d just use my phone if that was the case. I’ve been playing around with different f./iso/shutter speeds to try and figure it all out and think I’m starting to pick it up. I’m going to be doing a course I got with the camera but any info, hints tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Finally, what are peoples recommendations for editing software? I’m using a trial version of Lightroom at the moment which I’m starting to get my head around but is there alternatives that people prefer? I’d like to see what’s available before committing to buying one
Cheers
Richie
aoluainParticipantwelcome Richie!
I use an old version of Photoshop at the moment CS2.
I also have Photoshop CS Elements which is also ok. Pretty much any Photoshop version will
do what you need in my opinion for photography editing.I have some books for sale in the “For Sale” section here, if you are interested in reading
up on digital photography in general.Anyway welcome aboard, Alan
Richie_cMemberThanks Alan, yeah I’m liking the Lightroom so far so I might just stick with that.
I’ll take a look at the books, won’t be looking till at least the end of the month though
peewee3ieMembermiki gParticipantWelcome to the site. I’d recommend Paintshop Pro as a cheap alternative to Photoshop or Lightroom. I’ve always found it easier to use.
