Fantastic shot Philippe, I saw a similar in one of the papers around that time. I love the composition of this and specifically the way my eye moves from the vulnerability of the houses at the waters edge to the safety of the houses in the higher (back) ground.

Excellent image, love the lighting, must have been very scary for the
    householders in the front though!

Very well captured. Timing is spot on & the lighting & composition are very good too. Well done

    Thanks for the lovely comments,

Yes there was a lot of photographers out that night. Lahinch is well used to storm but this one was pretty bad, a lot of the houses had to be evacuated in the middle of the night.

This is brilliant! Can imagine how dark it really was and difficult conditions all around probably. Pity something so amazing-looking caused that much trouble :P
Love the way the whole wave is captured!

Excellent shot Philippe, this certainly looks as good if not better than most of the images that were doing the rounds shortly after the storm. Timing is everything.

This is an absolute cracker of a shot that shows the strength of mother nature.

Maybe the best shot I’ve seen anywhere of the storms.

Was this shot used on Rte news recently? It looked exactly the same!

    Hi Jenny,
    No wasn’t mine, unfortunately.
there was a lot of photographers around during the storms, and there was only a couple of spots to shoot safely from, so you will probably see similar ones around.
