    Hi all,

Would appreciate your comments/critique of this. Would not consider landscape my ‘strength’ but want to improve.

    Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS, F13, 1/160s

Apparently there are floods predicted for tonight/tomorrow.

    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

i think th field of vies is too wide

the interesting features in the scene are the birds, tree and bench.

I would crop out the left side to make a square which would improve the composition

    Many thanks for that aoluain!

‘Instinctively’ that makes sense. Will try and crop and upload later.

    Would be delighted!

I am definitely WEAK at framing shots (especially group and landscape) so I would consider it valuable guidance if you did.
(I have the shot at much higher resolution than the one I posted. If you need that to get the desired result just let me know)

    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

    Thanks aoluain,

Your crop does look a better picture.
It also tells me to try and frame the original shot a LOT better next time :)

I had struggled to try and keep as much of the tree, bench and gulls in the frame when cropping but had been using a 6×4 crop so kept losing what I wanted to keep.

(Not as much of the interesting stuff in this shot)

I was probably trying to capture too much in one shot. MUST THINK HARDER :)

    Thank you agaun aoluain!
