That’s really nice Alan, the light on the foreground and the trees in the background make the shot. Care to share your settings / technique.
Dave.
alanhunt99ParticipantThanks Dave. Really appreciate it. To be honest I wasn’t expecting it I look like this. It was pitch dark and I couldn’t see a thing.
I had gone out to capture a moonrise but ended up with this.
This location has a jetty off to the left and had two or three lights in it. As the water was so high I could get near it but it lite the left hand side of the trees. I had the camera set at ISO 3200,f4 at 20″ and really was hoping for stars.
That’s when this shot happened. I liked how it was lite. I couldn’t
go back any further as I didn’t want any more trees in the frame and the light on the left would have caused flare. So I took 4 shots with camera held in portrait orientation so as to capture as much of trees height as possible and then just stitched them.
I wasn’t expecting the light on the left to add so much but was pleasantly surprised.miki gParticipantalanhunt99ParticipantCelticpicsParticipantpeterakoMembersndipoMemberGreat shot! Light is just right and you have managed to capture one sparkly dot near the top right corner :)

alanhunt99Participant5faytheParticipantHi Alan,
I really love this image and would be very happy if it were mine.
As has been said it’s different and has a magical look to it. Yet it dosen’t look at all unnatural to me.
The light on the trees is lovely.
It definitely holds the eye.Very well done.
John.
