My name is Luka, I have just joined here and i am a beginner in the art of video and photo. I recently bought a canon 600d (t3i) to begin practising video (i hope i am posting in the right section, forgive my ignorance if I am not) I am making an artistic style video soon and I would greatly appreciate some advice before I buy a lens.
I am looking for a really good wide angle lens? i was thinking about the Tokina 11-16? I would like to create cinematic style shots like this one? with all the background in focus and the subject? I believe this is called a deep depth of field? (please bear in mind I am only beginning so I know very little about photography terms now)
here is a sample photograph of the style I would like
Hi Luka, welcome to the site, agree with miki the 10-20 seems to be a popular choice,
I think the example you put up was taken with a fisheye lens, they can start at 8mm but
you will get lots of distortion with these lenses, ie straight lens will curve but the depth
of field you get with these lenses is phenomenal! You either love em or hate em kind of
thing! I love them. They are so wide it is hard to keep your toes out of the shot!
