Thats excellent. Was he aware that you were taking a photograph ?
What sort of lens were you using ?

Thanks Mark.. although not technically perfect (nust get around to editing it again some day) it’s one of my favourite shots to date.

It was shot using a Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX DG. Apart from sharpness/constant f2.8 through out the range, another “joy” about this lens, is that when you extend it outwards, whilst in most cases this makes people think you’re zooming in, you’re actually contracting the focal length. So I pretended to be focusing on the pigeon only, knelt down and shot as wide as possible (24mm). The guy knew I was there, but I was don’t think he was that bothered. Two seconds before I snapped, the pigeon was staring squarly up at the guy on the bench and he was staring straight back at the pigeon. Would have made for a better shot probably!

great stuff, never seen a pigeon looking so thoughtful before

Great shot… I would have been very self conscious trying to take this picture myself. But the similar sort of “posture” of the two of them makes this shot very interesting.

    Cheers everyone :D

I think, if street photography is your thing, then you have to take risks the odd time and just try for the shot you want. That could mean asking the person in question can you shoot them or just going for it anyway.

Fantastic shot, very good example of street photography!

It’s a pity he ain’t wearing shoes that suit the rest of the shot a bit more, but that’s nothing to do with you!

I love this shot – the composition is spot on. Your work always inspires me to try harder.
