Since i bought my camera i’be been increasingly frustrated at the dull gray and lifeless sky that Ireland
has to offer. Has anyone any suggestions on how to get the most out of landscape photography when the
sky is so flat? I’ve toyed with the idea of photo merging, but i’m not convinced! Is it time to buy a macro lens ?
    Would appreciate any advice? :)

When the sky is flat (as is the norm :) ), close-ups for detail, doesnt have to be macro
    works great.

Could also try Street or Documentary too ?

Even if it’s cloudy, you can still get interesting skies. I find that the flat gray sky with no cloud details can be a bit boring, but a nice roiling cloudy sky can make for a very interesting shot! :)

Have a look into picking up a decent filter set and have some funfun!!
I wanna get some ND, Grad ND and a few others and have some exposure fun I think.

I agree with Mark – look for subjects where the sky doesn’t matter. The overcast soft light can be useful for some subjects so cloudy isn’t all bad. I’m not quite sure where buying a macro lens comes into this – just looking at the photos on your website that doesn’t really look your style. Ordinary lenses are quite suitable for a lot of close-ups, so I wouldn’t really consider a macro lens unless you are doing a lot of close-ups and feeling the need for more closer focussing and magnification of small subjects.
