    Hi all,
thrilled to bits to find this site, had’nt a clue you were out there, it was actually my daughter who googled it just messin. I;m fairly new to this stuff had a fugi compact digital for a few years but did’nt over use it. Bought nikon d70 with 18/70 lens last Jan. and have really caught the bug since but obviously very much a beginner and an awful lot to learn. Was down in Gibralter last week and a good camera shop there called Cosmos tax and vat exempt. Was thinking of trading up to d200 but Archie the assistant there convinced me that I should hold on to my d70 for another while and go for a higher spec lens. He strongly recommended the nikon 17/55 2.8 but it’s pretty pricey here . Has anyone any views on this lens or other recomendations which I might consider. I,m based in Longford and have no specialist fields, just general photography. Great site, glad to be aboard.

Hey Crazyhorse, good to see you posting. You can’t go wrong with a D70. Of course it was my first love, so i am slightly biased :D I had the same problem, i used a D70 for a while and was almost going to buy one when i opted for the D200. – for me this was a long term solution even though i’ll be stuck with an 18-70 for a while, have to say though i’m pretty impressed with the 18-70. Since you don’t have a specialist field i would suggest that you get out with your camera as often as possible and see where your interest lies with regards to photography and then decide on what lens to buy. If you take a look in the lenses section you’re find loads of info on lenses and why people are opting for certain ones.
