collyParticipantCool, this looks very interesting. Is anyone here a member? What usually happens in these clubs?
pete4130MemberI used to be a member of this club. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful. The Tuesday night meetings are usually filled by guest speakers, friendly in-club competitions where the members get to vote on images on the night, the occasional outing, monthly competitions, workshops etc…. I think there is a schedule on their site of the upcoming evenings and what is planned for them http://www.dublincameraclub.ie/programme.jsp They also show exhibitions on Saturdays at the club. Free and open to the public as long as they can get members to volunteer to be present on Saturdays.
I just didn’t have the time to attend the mettings anymoe which is the reason I’m no longer a member. You don’t to be a member either to pop down on any given Tuesday to see what its all about and to see if you like it. Maybe try an evening where they are judging images, its usually a fun atmosphere to relax and get talking to other members.earthairfireParticipantBuzz LightyearParticipantI didn’t realise our profile hadn’t been updated in yonks.
Anyway we still meet on a Tuedsay evening at 8pm in Camden St.
During the dark nights we have our Winter League, once a month, during which members compete against one another anonymously for the best image in digital, colour prints or monochrome prints. Feel free to join in as we cater for all skill levels from novice to advanced. We have guest speakers along most other weeks, which are very popular. Invited guests are asked to display a selection of their work and talk about it. We’ve had everybody from Guy Gowan to the Garda forensic team.
Our documentary workshop group meet on a Monday evening, and always welcome new members.
Finally our popular ‘Photography for Beginners’ course will be starting at the end of September. Places are limited to 50 per course, so book early!
