Two mins out of your time??

ciaranParticipant
Ok, so it’s not exactly a picture post as such :!:
I’m getting addicted to slideshows and have created a new one. This one contains shots of people and places around Dublin. It takes a little over 2 mins to view it and it’s best viewed with sound turned on.
I’d appreciate any comments if people do get around to looking at it.

gerardkParticipantSorry but I am too lazy to follow links *sarcasm off * ;o)
(viewed without sound as I am in work) I thought the portrait 6 or so pictures in was excellent and for me was the highlight, also the famine statues ones were very much to my liking (I never did agree with the point elsewhere made that photographing statues was stealing or cashing in on someone elses art – and your ones illustrate that quite well).
The criticism I would have of it based on an initial viewing is that its a slightly mixed bag quality wise and more so thematically. Some of the pictures didnt seem to sit very well together, lovers looking at the ocean along side assorted beggars and an alcoholic, and other general scenes. This is probably intentional but to my eyes it didnt make for a enjoyable self contained slideshow. The transitions were smooth and non distracting – also technically there didnt seem to be much waiting around, it was timed well.
The resolution is basically large thumbnail sized which makes it difficult to see too much detail without disrupting the flow. There were a few surprises in there – one of the shots looked like an american footballer mid-match – till I realised it was a guard at the dub riots. I am not sure if it was intentional or not but when I viewed it it stopped on the burnt out car and there was no indication whether it was loading in the background or if that was that. Granted it may have been obvious through sound but many web browsers would have sound off so perhaps a visual cue might be helpful there.
AliParticipantI really like this, i probably would have kept to the “people” theme :). I was surprised when i saw Maggie, great image :)
You have so many great images. Your challenge should you wish to accept it is to produce a colour one :).MoyaParticipantI like your slide shows! For this one I have to agree with previous comments. For me the music conjures up human emotions……so your people photos work well. I lost that human connection on the architectural shots. Transitions, timing all work for me!
EddieParticipantI liked the images, and enjoyed the experience. They are a mixed bag as already mentioned. I would suggest you build on the homeless / street theme with the aim of producing one really good show. The size of the images did not bother me but you could use ‘picture to exe’ if you wanted to get into it more seriously, Its cheap and allows greater control over the show.
RobertoMemberciaranParticipantThanks everyone… especially Gerard for following the link!
Shot wise they are a mixed bag, I would have to agree. I guess the reason being is that I used my stronger images in the other two slideshows and I didn’t want heavy duplication between them. That said, I’ve taken the link down now and will probably remove the other slideshows over the following days to combine all the stronger shots into one.
Thanks for taking the time to look at them and comment. Much appreciated.
