I think the sky is excellent as well – especially the way its sharp right out into the distance. If I had to make a recommendation on a change then possibly the grass in the foreground is a touch too sharp, some softening of that might work better (along the lines of Ali’s barley shot). If it was possible for a wider crop with a touch less foreground that may work too. Still a great shot.
Hey Steve. The sky looks quite grainy, is that intentional? Is it film!? (possibly a dumb question, I apologise!)
Only thing I’d say is the clouds and grass are competing a little for attention… the clouds themselves draw your eye down to the mountain, but then the grass going every which way is a little distracting ?
I’d give Gerard’s suggestion a go. This might also be a dumb question, but did you shoot B+W or convert from colour?
Love the sky in this one, Steve, my only wish woulda been that you took it in landscape format so I could see more of it.
Love the contrast, grain, sharpness of it.
Just because you said ‘play’ ;)
And no, I don’t think it’s better than the original either, but sometimes it’s just fun to play.
