Not sure either one I’ve done no PS work to the B&W except for quick brightness adlustment on the far left (needs a lot more work), but have finished it on the final print.

Great thread. I’ll be along later – maybe the weekend – with a contribution.

I don?t know whether I actually have a favourite travel photo but this is one of my favourites. It isn?t anywhere very exotic ? simply Ballintoy Harbour in Co Antrim in good ole Ireland. From a photographic perspective it cheerfully ignores most of the rules. But I think that there?s still something inviting about it that would prompt a few people to want to visit this charming little place.

Comments welcome ? especially on composition.

Have to agree. Does look very charming indeed and definitely looks worth visiting, thereby fulfilling the true criteria of any travel photograph. Nice one Bertie, very nice indeed.

Dave, your honeymoon photo is simply stunning. That’s one place I’d definitely love to go.

Hopefully I’ll manage to post something here myself in a while.

I have one from Zion National Park that I took with a Kodak Advantix but I don’t have a soft copy at hand. I love the colours in it. I hadn’t a clue what to do with the camera … most will argue that nothing has changed. My other fave is this:

    Big version is here: http://www.highwaycsl.com/Travel/Tanzania/Ngorongoro/NgorongoroSunsetFull.jpg

It’s the Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania. That’s a 12 mile wide hole in a mountain in the photo. It was a caldera, I think that’s the same sort of thing that Yosemite is. I was heading for dinner at the lodge and said “screw it, I’ll bring the camera bag and tripod”. It’s a stitch of about 5 photos I think. It took me around 3 days to put it all together. I’ve another from the plains around the Gol Kopjes in the Serengeti that I need to put together but either forget or never get around to it.

Worth the effort if you ask me! I have a few shots I took at Loch Ness which I’ve made several attempts to stitch together, trouble is I don’t think I had the knowledge when taking the original shots and the exposures are all over the place, so each time I’ve tried I’ve given up.

Reason to go back one day I suppose!

Excellent work with that one though Joe!

Mark, that is the Mara dream shot. I’ve been hoping to go there next year. Seeing that just makes me itch even more.

Thanks! I shoot in manual and that gives control over the exposure. I also use a piece of software called PTGui for the stitching. It does an amazing job and requires only the tiniest amount of manual work to ID the stitch points.

Mark that is a stunning shot… wow….! What i would give to have a chance to take and image like that… absolutly beautiful…! I feel stupid by posting a couple of my favourites….

Both these images where shot in Barcelona this year… went there on a trip with my office… an ‘Architectural’ trip…! I really enjoy modern architecture… These 2 images are special to me as they put me back to a place that means something to me… The first is an abstract pic of part of the MACBA builing by architect Richard Miere… The second is again an abstract shot inside the Barcelona Pavilion by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe…. thee most beautiful building I was ever in…!

Not sure they really constitute travel pics (at least not as much as some of the pics here) but I suppose i was travelling…!

Macchu Picchu Peru. Taken with my trusty nikon coolpix 3100. I did some tricking around with photoshop to change the contrast. The best thing about this picture for me is that there are no people in it which I couldn’t believe because the place was fairly busy.

I took this on my recent biking holiday in Fance, near Mende, we were camping right beside this lake and it was an amazing sunset. Just used my little nikon S1 which so compact when travelling on a bike. hoping to upgrade soon to a dSLR!
