I have an order overdue from Warehouse Express and while its supposed to be in the delivery chain nobody there seems to want to help track it or find where it is. It seems when it “leaves the building” all interest dies thereafter. Has anyone got any simular experience? How did you handle it?

Sorry to hear the bad news.

Brandyman is a big fan of Warehouse Express and has defended them whenever I’ve made a negative comment on them. Having said that, I’ve ordered from them twice in the past – only small items that fit in a jiffy envelope that I couldn’t get elsewhere – and I’ve not had any problems. But for bigger items, I will always look elsewhere as Warehouse Express are not the cheapest supplier around (and I’ve commented on that before). To hear that you are now having problems with a delivery is not good news.

How do you know your order has left them? Because someone told you it has? That’s not good enough – for all you know it may still be sitting there. Insist that they send you proof that they have shipped the goods – at the very least that should give you an idea who is carrying the goods and you can chase up directly with the carrier then. Good luck! At least you’ll know better next time. One of the best suppliers I’ve ever used in the UK is Speed Graphic – they’re not the cheapest either though, but never had a problem with service. I’ve also used a number of other retailers, and have generally been happy with most of them – I’ll try and post a few links to my favourite ones later tonight.

I’ve used them twice for box of 10 rolls of film and last week for a 1gb memory card and both times supplied on time. If it’s a big package I think they get a tracking number from Royal Mail. Ask for the tracking number and you can look it up on Royal Mail website.

    Thanks guys,
I have a tracking number and a courier company but since Friday I have searched the net and the courier company do not exist. The guy I’m talking to in Warehouse express is not in today !. I have had a lot of different stories from them. First it left on a Friday and I would have it on Tuesday, next (last Thursday) the person forgot to process the order and it would be sent out that evening. On Friday I got an email saying it was sent out last Tuesday and is in Ireland. On Friday evening got the name of the courier company and a tracking number……..the Company is on the net but are a sportswear manufacturer. International enquiries do not know any courier by that name. Today I have called them twice and my order number could not be found at first. Then everybody was too busy to go and track the order. They would not pass me through to a higher level to get some action and promised to return with an answer shortly. No return call so far and none of my regular deliverers have the package on board today. So………….thats where it stands currently as of now.

Gerry, if you want to PM me the tracking number and the courier company, I’ll see if there’s anything I can do. In my current job I work quite close to the logistics industry in Ireland and could make a few inquiries.

When I tried to order from them they told me that they didn’t ship to Southern Ireland !
Gave up on them after that.

I have ordered from warehouseexpress a few times with no problems except for the last time. I tried ordering a Canon 350D and got the following response (This is a cut and paste from the email):

    “”Thank you for your e-mail.
Regrettably we are unable to export digital goods (eg. scanners and camera’s) beacuse of the sensitivity of the digital war itself.
Apologies we are not able to supply you on this occasion and the inconvenience this may cause.””

HUHhhhhhh “digital war”? :?:  :?:

After a little investigation I found out that what they meant was that they could not ship delicate items like cameras overseas due to the amount of returns they were getting caused by goods being damaged in overseas transit. Hmm, I wonder how do all the other companies manage to ship overseas.

    ware.

They wouldn’t post me a computer monitor to Dublin when I enquired, and were less than polite about it. I haven’t tried to order smaller items from them.

Who knows what the new management team there have changed. It surprises me that they seem to be going backwards given the apparent calibre of the new arrivals to the management team, including Julian Wright as the new Marketing Director (formerly of screwfix.com, who I’ve also bought from and been happy with) and Ted Westlake as new Operations Director. Interestingly, the new CEO, Colin McCarthy, is quoted as saying “We have a strong and ambitious team in place and Warehouse Express is set to see sales in excess of ?70m per annum within two years. To achieve this we are investing in people to ascertain our goal“. Looks like they must have taken a wrong turn somewhere!

Pity we don’t have an Irish alternative with a wide range of product available

I have tried a few times to order from Warehouse Express but they wouldnt deliver to Ireland… Maybe there is a cost treshold that they wont deliver items if the are over it for insurance reasons or something… I too wonder how other companies do it…! It sure is a pity Mark that there is no company in Ireland as big as them (and as cheap in some cases)…!

My last dealing with them was around 14 months ago so they may have changed since then. I use a German supplier now.

I suppose we dont have the population for that size of operation. Now I find Calumet in Belfast very good over the years. I just got my new Canon 1Ds Mk II Kit there a few weeks back and as usual it all arriver the day after I ordered it. Have to say if I ordered a small memory card from them today I’d have it at 2.00pm tomorrow. A great service always
