I have been using “The Photographic Manager” since 1989 here when MS DOS was all the rage. Its now windows based, needless to say and it does everything I need it to do. Its not at all expensive and John is a great guy for support and help.
Give me a shout if you need more details.

There is also “The Photographic Organiser” which I have looked at since but find its too expensive and not all that friendly.

    Hi Guys,
Has anyone any experience of Preview Plus, software? I have seen it used once briefly, for selling, you can show your prints, with frames around them ect. there’s also a database on it, not sure what else, or where to find it??

I know I have a demo version of it somewhere here and you can have it. I’ll try to locate it and bring it with me next time I’m calling down to you. Its by “Falcon” i think. It sounds good but about ?1440 i think and then you need a good (and I mean a good) LCD projector also.

I still think “The Photographic Manager” is the best value for the cost. I have been using it since 1989 and it completely runs the business here.

Is there anyone out there using Phase One’s ?600 Portrait One package? It’s a complete raw workflow solution with the addition of a sales solution. That’s all I know about it but I’d be interested in finding out more about it. It looks like an intersting product but I can’t help wondering if it might be a bit limiting. It seems to handle order processing as well, but I’m not sure if it can also handle the pricing element of order processing, which I would think is an important element.

Thorston, must look more closely at that. If its good its not overpriced compared to some of the stuff available.
Another one recommended to us recently by UK photographer, Kevin Wilson, is called “Pro Select”. You can download a demo copy for 30 days from http://www.proselect.com (I think, but a search for pro select will find it). I did download it but still have not had a chance to see it perform. I do know Kevin uses it in his Studio all the time but I think its not as cheap as the one you are talking about.

I think this is the one you mean :

Looks interesting. Cost is AUD$398 + 250 (for hi res option) – or about ?390 total.

    Hi ALL
Seen this thread being brought alive again so since originally posting i have found a brilliant piece of software as above mentioned called pro-select from time-exposure. What is it with the aussies they design some amazing software programs these days especially the likes of yervants page gallery..Anyways its being a major advantage using it and i would highly recommend it to anybody whom owns a studio or otherwise. Woud you believe my first customer that viewed their collection on this bought a composite frame based on the templates within the software-this actually paid for the program itself
So if any of you would like a free go try it-www.timeexposure.com or drop by the studio.

And no i’m not a shareholder of this company  ……yet
