Software for incremental backups
-
FintanParticipant
I’ve an external hard disk for backups and I’m wondering if theres any good software for doing automated incremental backups?
Any recomendations?

have a look here :

I use Genie myself and it works fine with my external disk.

In the office I work in I set up a backup with Retrospect Worgroup software. It is very good and extremely reliable which is the most important part of any backup. It took me a while to figure out a full network backup but once set up it runs flawlessly. I have now set it up in 4 offices and so far it has been running perfectly for 2 years. if you dont have a network you obviously wouldnt need the workgroup version and perhaps the Express/Desktop version would be sufficient for your needs. As it happens I use and set up this software exclusively on Apple computesr but i would assume that t would work equally well on PC’s…! Here is the website:

EMC are probably the no. 1 provider of backup solutions, so I’d have complete faith in this product. And at only $119.00 it’s excellent value for money too. Will have to pull out the ol credit card myself now :(
IOPParticipantI run a Graphic Design Studio (ie big files) and we’ve been using Folders Synchronizer for about 5 years. It’s for Mac and it’s about ?30. Here’s the link http://www.softobe.com/products/flsy/pp.html
donnchaParticipantI use Backuppc to backup everything, my photos, home directory and websites onto an external 500GB disk but if you’re not familiar with Linu then don’t bother checking out http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
Works a treat however!
