I shot this flower in one of the Glasnevin greenhouse. Thought it an unusual colour.

It’s a beautiful flower and the stamen/stigma arrangement is very well-captured. If I have a complaint it’s with the petals – they seem to have no definition. It’s either lack of sharpness or over-saturation. I’d guess, from the leaf edge above, that the petals have fallen outside the field of focus. It always happens to my macro flowers too. Not to Noely’s though – he uses teams of little gnomes and suchlike to help him.

The shallow depth of field leaves the petals out of focus. I like the effect but I suppose it would not do for an illustration in a flower book.

I like this effect too but the top leaf should have the same effect as well.
