Due to a rediculous workload recently, I haven’t had the chance to shoot as much as I’d have liked. So I’m picking this one from the archives, just so people know I’m alive. I’m considering entering this one as part of a panel of images all taken of people on the street, so unposed. Comments and critique welcome.
kenmurphyParticipantAs always the B&W conversion is top notch
however I find my eyes being drawn away from the lady towards the right of the shot to the curves
Maybe it is the shots that I am always looking at in that the speed element jumps out at me (if all of that makes sence?)

I don’t think having your eyes being drawn away are a bad thing. I framed the shot so the receding lines would lead you away towards where she was looking and then I cheated (a little) by darkening the right hand side of the shot to add an element of forboding, or at least trying to.
AliParticipantI love this shot. :) And probably one of my favourite of your portraits – for various reasons. The lines do draw me away but
they force me to look at the space you’ve created in the image. I hope you’ve asked Eoin’s permission to post this :PAnonymousParticipantHi Ciaran, yep the title says it all! Its a pity the glasses hides her eyes as i would say she was lost in thought, the gaze looking out reflects the pose so thats a good thing and you have done a good job blurring the busy background to draw focus to the subject. Thumbs up..
Ben 8)PS(They say that the eyes are the gateway to our souls-This was the title for prayer at Bedtime last nite  )
ciaranParticipantThanks :) Ali, I’m not sure Eoin has even seen the shot to be honest. But as per the thread “consent to appear” https://www.photographyireland.net/viewtopic.php?t=1136 I don’t need to ask him anyway ;) I’ll keep it on my panel list for the moment.. thanks :)
Ben, thanks for the comments. As for blurring the background, this was done in camera, shooting at f2.8. The only post processing trick, apart from the conversion, was the darkening of the space in front of her.
Thanks again
AliParticipantRobertoMemberI am not a big fun of ‘cuted’ heads but I like this shot because the expression of the face and composition.
EddieParticipantCiaran. This is a strong image , I like the difference in contrast between the background and the subject in the foreground. I think you could read it many ways sad, thoughtful, and this does help hold your interest. Also favour the tight crop. Nice lead shot for a panel.
