This baby pheasant will be chock full of lead come first of November, but I don’t think he realises!

C&C welcome, I’m enjoying the comments left on other people’s photos and really learning from you guys
    Thanks

good quality work, nice details and colour on bird. Greens are a bit too strong to my eye though, but good shot.

Gerard, interesting shot. You did a good job to get reasonably close to the bird!

The image seems to have a blue cast, have you tried removing it in Photoshop?

Well done on getting this. My family home is surrounded by pheasants but I can never get close to them nor will they come close to any hide I set up. I’ve never seen an immature pheasant so that’s a first.

Have to agree on the colour being off though.

Thanks for the comments, I’ll see if I can improve the colour. I didn’t get that close it was shot at 300mm on Canon 350D equivalent to 480mm full-size sensor!

I tried desaturating it generally, I think the grass is a better colour now. Not sure if the blue’s gone though, I’m no photshop wiz and laptop screen not ideal for photo editing either.

    Any tips welcome.

Thanks, in the camera. Distance about 40m exif 1/400 sec f5.6 Focal length 300mm AP iso 800. No Cropping. That’s the lowest aperture at that focal length on this lens so it was the long focal length that gave the DOF. Manual focus had to be quick, but I was lucky how it turned out. Plenty of duds too :-)
